Both mum and I not only have our birthdays in March but also in the same week. I am 16 this year, Alhamdulillah, and my family members had given me wonderful presents.
Mum gave me a lot of her Australian, American, Canadian and New Zealand stamps wrapped in a lovely silver coloured box. My dad bought me stamps at the stamp fair and an A3 sized document file which I now use to keep my stamps in. My sister Aeshah gave me some Vietnamese stamps featuring dolphins that are missing from my collection and lots of odds and ends that I could use for my craftworks. Anisah gave me a number of her drawings and Ali gave me a hairdryer, a ‘Snoopy’ clock and a watch.
My parents gave me a beautiful birthday card with a picture of a flower drawn by mum (the artist), using soft pastels. Ahmad Ali gave me three birthday cards for he enjoyed card making so much that he couldn’t stop making them… Abang Muhammad sent me a birthday card too, all the way from Chicago together with lots of gorgeous U.S.S.R. stamps.
My mother had a marvellous birthday too. Again, most of her presents were stamps from all of us. I secretly looked through her stamp albums and picked out stamps that I own but is missing from her collection. I’m delighted that she was thrilled to receive the stamps that I gave her. I also gave her some Machin stamps (the British definitive stamps with a picture of Queen Elizabeth’s head – mum simply love them, she has a few pages of those lovely stamps in her stamp album and wishes to own as much as she could). Aeshah gave her stamps too. Anisah gave her an envelope with a picture of a cat that she ‘bought’ for 6 stars (our play-money currency) from my little brother. And Ahmad Ali gave mum a beautiful egg cup and a special Machin stamp(the 1840 Anniversary Machins) with pictures of both Queen Elizabeth as in other Machin stamps and Queen Victoria as in Penny Black.
That night,we had pizzas from Domino’s Pizza for our dinner. Everyone love Domino’s Pizza and we celebrated most of our birthdays with them. It was only last month when we had pizza for my little brother’s birthday!

Yesterday, my little brother, Ahmad Ali, turned 7 years old. Early in the morning, we went to Taman Tasik Ampang Hilir for a birthday jog and a birthday playtime at the playground. At the playground, I succeeded to swing on the monkey bar from the beginning until the end for the first time! 🙂 After lunch, we cleared up the dining table and arranged his birthday presents on the table together with his cards. I gave him a 3D butterfly card (I made it myself), a Hot Wheels track with 6 cars (which was previously mine – my 5th birthday present from Uncle Rauf), an Assembly Fun Kit – Forklift (from my mother and I), a personally decorated clock and a turmeric plant.
Altogether, his presents totaled up to 36. His favourite were the Assembly Fun kit ‘Helicopter’ (from dad) and ‘Forklift’. Some of the other gifts were two credit cards, some books, a blue Hot Wheels Chevrolet, a few sets of glittering 3D stickers, Dunkin Donut cookies, chocolate, a set of paintbrushes, a ladybug shaped palette and a pack of ‘Glow In The Dark’ Crayola crayons set. He also received 4 beautiful cards.
After he opened his presents, he started to create his Helicopter but he couldn’t understand the instruction manual (the instruction is really confusing for a child his age). So he left it and generously invite my sisters to join him playing with his Hot Wheels track. They spend an hour and a half playing with the cars. For dinner, we had two Extra Large Meat Mania pizza (bought at Domino’s pizza) at my brother’s request.
That night, he decided to invent something else with his assemble kit and came up with a ‘Hictep ler’. He said that it is a flying machine. He told us that yesterday was his best birthday ever because he had a great time with his Hot Wheels track and enjoyed creating his ‘hictep ler’.
Happy Mothers Day to mum, nenek and all the other mothers in the world…
These are the presents that my siblings and I had prepared for mum. We sorted them on the dining table.

Last night before going to bed, Aeshah, Anisah and I gather everyone’s presents and cards and gather them on the dining table. We sort them as nice as we could. It was fun. All of us gave mum a few cookie cutter each. We placed them in homemade birthday paperbags that I made myself. Mum loves cookie cutters and moulds for craftswork! I also gave mum a book entitled ‘Seni Lukisan Kain’ (The art of fabric painting)… again, because mum loves craftswork! I hope that mum would have a great and enjoyable mother’s day. I LOVE YOU, MAMA!!! 🙂
Yesterday the 5th December 2008 was my little sister Anisah Afifah’s 8th birthday. Anisah or Fah or Kafah as how our little brother called her (refer to ‘About Anisah Afifah – Ali’s blog’) is a cute little girl with a very sweet smile.
We celebrated her birthday at about 4:30 pm. Dress in a beautiful white gown and wearing a crown, Anisah look so pretty. She was beaming with delight when she saw the presents.
We sang her the birthday song and she read her birthday cards. Among the three birthday cards I think the one from my mum which was decorated with blue flowers and ribbons from a bunga telur (refer to ‘Eggs’) is the nicest.
After reading the cards, she open her presents. Among them were honey (she loves them so much), a ‘Winnie the Pooh’ document file, a T-shirt with a picture of a flying fairy, Disney princess stickers and their album and a lot more. Next we took lots of photographs of Anisah in her beautiful gown. They would be really nice for her blog.
It was rather late after we finished cleaning up the mess. We then sat down to make her some necklaces and bracelets from the bead sets that she got for her birthday. Mum and Ali made her a sweet and colourful necklace. I made her a bracelet which has the word ‘HUG’on it to remind her that I loved her very much. I also made her a necklace which said ‘SIT’ to remind her that she is a big girl now and must not run and jump around all the time. Aeshah made one which said ‘HUG’ too, ands gave her a big hug. Ali is making one with a dolphin on it but he hasn’t finished them yet.
We wanted to play ‘MONOPOLY’ after dinner but we have to go out since dad had a meeting with his Hadith ustaz, Ustaz Raof (refer to ‘My Hadith Class – Ali’s Blog). On the way home, dad took us to Mc Donald for some tasty ice-creams. When we reached home, I asked Anisah what does she likes best about her birthday. Here is the list…
- The ‘Spot the Difference’ card given by Aeshah. She said that it is fun.
- The ‘Musical Card’ which I gave her. It sang the song ‘Happy Birthday’.
- The ‘princess mirror’. The mirror which was made from plaster was moulded. Painted and given by mum, the great artist who could also make other beautiful craftworks.
- A beautiful flowery backpack which was previously mine. She had been wishing for it for a long time.
- Nicely kept stuff toys which previously belong to Aeshah.
- A packet of Pepperidge Farms Goldfish crackers (refer to ‘Goldfish – Ali’s blog’) which was given by Ahmad Ali. It is Anisah’s favourite crackers… infact it is our favourite crackers.
- A beautiful story book which dad bought at the MPH Warehouse Sale (refer to ‘MPH Warehouse Sale – Ali’s blog’)
